At the Crown Point Sectionals KV faced of with Hanover Central in the semi final round. It didn’t happen till after a one hour rain delay. The Lady Kougars looked fantastic after waiting so long to get onto the court. Every position controlled the match from the first game.
1S – Aubrey Toppen vs Natalia Haitsma 6-2, 6-3
2S – Taylor Schultz vs Kaitlyn Harrell 6-0, 6-2
3S – Toni Daniels vs Katie Jackowski 6-0, 6-2
1D – Allison Dykstra & Olivia Arnold vs Ariana Acre & Sydney Reinbold 6-3, 6-1
2D – Hanna Gutwein & Alexis Arambula vs Megan Clark & Paige Kubiak 6-3, 6-3
Meanwhile Lake Central played Crown Point in the other semi final round with Crown Point avenging an earlier season loss to LC of 2-3 by beating LC 5-0, setting up the Championship match for Sectionals to be played 30 minutes after the last CP/LC match finished. Crown Point has won this Sectional 23 of the last 24 years.
The Championship match didn’t even start until 8:30pm with the Lady Kougars having to wait almost 2 hours to get back onto the court. At 9:30 lightning struck and the match was called and set to resume Friday at 4:30. As it stands now the Lady Kougars ar down by scores 2-3. The 1 & 3 singles and 1 doubles are down a set and trailing in the second set. But the 2 singles and 2 doubles are up in the first set and on each court are a point away from 5-3. Come out and cheer on the Lady Kougars tonight to see if they can maintain the two leads and flip one of the other matches to bring home the Sectional Title which hasn’t happen for KV since 1993!
