On Saturday January 9th, the Boys Freshman Basketball team traveled to Plymouth High School to take part in the Plymouth C-Team Tournament. In the opening round, the Kougars were matched up against an always tough Fort Wayne South team. It was a game of runs for the most part. KV had a solid start and led by a score of 16-11 after the first quarter only to have Fort Wayne South come roaring back n the second quarter to hold a halftime lead on the Kougars of 28-20. The third quarter was KV’s turn to make a run, outscoring Fort Wayne South 15-8 to cur the deficit to 36-35 going into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was back and forth the entire way, ending in a 49-49 tie and sending it into overtime. Fort Wayne South was able to outlast the Kougars in overtime, winning by a score of 55-53.
Bryant DeBoard led KV in scoring with 13 points while Ethan Ehrhardt added 10 points. Also having good scoring games for KV was Gabe Kistler scoring 9 points and Jeremiah Jones with 8 points.
