Kankakee Valley Kougars Varsity Grabs Lead In Fourth Inning To Defeat Rensselaer Central
The Kougars took the lead late and defeated Rensselaer Central 16-5 on Monday. The game was tied at four with KV batting in the top of the fourth when Hayley Alexander singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Rensselaer Central scored four runs in the first inning, but Kankakee Valley Kougars Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. Rensselaer Central big bats were led by M Northcutt and M Van Meter, all driving in runs in the inning.
The Kougars opened up scoring in the first inning. Alexander hit a solo homer.
In the top of the second inning, Kankakee Valley tied things up at four when Alexander singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Kankakee Valley Kougars Varsity tallied six runs in the fifth inning. Elise Kasper, Elyse Starr, and Carmen Rosado each had RBIs in the frame.
Starr earned the victory in the circle for Kankakee Valley Kougars Varsity. The righthander lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out seven and walking zero.
Hannah Wisley took the loss for Rensselaer Central. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while walking one.
Lexi Broyles started the game for KV. The righty surrendered four runs on three hits over one-third of an inning, striking out one.
Elise Kasper also added a home run to the game followed by a grand slam from Carmen Rosado.
