Kankakee Valley High School boys’ cross country competed at the New Prairie Cross Country Invitational — one of the oldest in the state — on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Facing the field once again without their junior top runner, the Kougars placed 14th out of 20 teams in their division.
“Placing high in these big invites this year is not in the cards for us,” stated Coach Adams, “but by other measures, today was a big success.” Seven thin-clads notched personal bests, along with another posting a season best, amounting to a collective 3:03 faster.
“This puts our post-season in a different light,” said Adams about his charges’ improvement. “With relative inexperience and a modest starting place, we are nonetheless making some good gains. Our post-season picture looks brighter as of today.”
Ethan Ehrhardt placed 41st out of 139 runners in 17:50 (8 second PR);
Luke Bristol, 18:36 (16 second PR);
Adam Collard, 18:39 (32 second season best);
Xavier De La Paz Marino, 20:02 (24 second PR);
Caden Adams, 20:15 (16 second PR);
Brock Maple, 20:17 (.2 second PR);
Thomas Bolde, 21:20 (50 second PR);
Ethan Kelly, (1:09 PR).
KV competes next at the Highland Invitational on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
