Multiple Teams · Boys Soccer Summer Update

The first official summer boys soccer workout will take place Tuesday, July 7th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the high school. Players please plan on arriving at 4 p.m. to have your temperature checked as well as answering some Covid-19 related questions. When arriving, temperature checks will be at Door 15 “Main Event Entrance.” Players should bring a mask and practice social distancing while waiting in line. Players will be using hand sanitizer before entering the building. Any player with a temperature of 100.3 or higher will be sent home and parents will be notified. After temperature checks, players can head out to the grass field behind the football stadium. There will be a brief player meeting with all coaches before the training session. Through the month of July, workouts will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday’s sessions will be on the grass field behind the school and Wednesday’s sessions will be on the turf football field. All workouts are voluntary, but highly encouraged to attend.

There will not be access to locker rooms. Players should bring bring plenty of water with their name written on the bottle/jug.  There will not be any sharing of water. Players can bring extra shirts to change into or even a towel if needed. Everyone must have on a shirt at all times. No tank tops or sleeveless shirts will be permitted. All players should also bring running shoes (flats), soccer cleats, shin guards, and a ball with them to each summer session. Shin guards won’t be necessary for the first few weeks since we cannot have any contact, but players should still keep them in their soccer bag. Once the session is over at 6:30 p.m., players will need to leave and cannot hang around the school.

Training sessions will be in small groups for the first few weeks.   More will be explained at the first meeting, but all players/coaches will keep socially distant as much as possible. Masks will not need to be worn during workouts, but are encouraged to be worn by all players when not engaging in physical exercise.

A few more important items:

Final Forms – Players/Parents please make sure to complete all required forms on Final Forms. This includes the new IHSAA Health History Update Questionnaire & Release Form. This form must be printed out and turned into the KV athletic office.

Physicals – All players need to have a physical on file. Returning/Incoming players do not need a new physical, but still need to turn in the IHSAA release form. If not obtaining a new physical, all incoming players will need to have their physical transferred onto an IHSAA physical form. Those forms can be located on the IHSAA website. All players can have a new physical taken, but because of the pandemic, the state is waiving any new physicals for this fall season.

Lastly as a reminder, all athletes must have the new IHSAA Health History form turned in as well as their physical and Final Forms documents filled out before participating in summer workouts. This applies for new and returning players.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to reach out to the KV boys soccer coaching staff or the athletic office.
