Week two of the virus has caused even more changes than anticipated. The Governor has declared that schools will not be able to go back in session till at least May 1st. Shortly after that the IHSAA released a statement saying that they are going to continue to try and get some of the spring season in before the year is over. Some of the changes the IHSAA has made are they are encouraging athletes to stay in shape, work out on their own, and continue stretching. Athletes are encouraged to work core development and stretch as much as possible. Please do not organize groups getting together, but it is encouraged to get a brother, sister, parent, etc. to go out and keep your arms loose or go for runs together. Once we are permitted to come back to school, which at this point the first day of practices could be May 4th, athletes will need to have 5 practices completed in order to participate in a game. Which as it stands right now all athletic events have been canceled through and including May 8th. This does not allow for a lot of time before sectionals, and again remember this could change in a day. We are working with conference teams to try and get a conference schedule completed so we can have conference champions. Enjoy your spring break, keep your fingers crossed, and enjoy the time with your family! There are a lot of resources online that you can use for a four week workout plan. Don’t be afraid to contact your coach and ask them for some direction on what you should work on. If we get the opportunity to perform at the end of the spring, things will move fast and you have to be ready.
