While we have no confirmed cases in our district the Kankakee Valley Athletic Department will continue to monitor what recommendations the IHSAA, CDC and Kankakee Valley School Corporation are suggesting for proper protocol as it pertains to athletics during the crisis. Currently the following procedures have been established by our school corporation, and we will keep you updated as changes become available. We are currently out of school till April 6th, which means that we are not going to allow any type of practices on campus or off campus. If athletes want to work out on their own they should make plans to stay off school grounds and not gather in groups. Once school officially begins we will follow IHSAA rules, which means baseball, golf and girls tennis will need to get 10 practices in before they can compete in a game/match. Track and Softball will need to get 6 practices in before they are allowed to participate in a game or meet. With that criteria we anticipate the earliest that a softball game or track meet would be scheduled is April 13th. The earliest a baseball, golf or tennis event would be scheduled is April 17th. The other important factor to remember is that other schools are in the same requirements as us and many of our opponents will not be back to school till after Easter which means we might be postponing things even longer than those projected dates mentioned above. As mentioned above the corporation office will continue to make decisions based on new and available information. Which means we will continue to adjust the dates above based on when school will be back in session. Also at this time we will not be hosting the winter awards program on March 19th! When school resumes each winter team will set up their own dates to meet and pass out awards! Thank you for your patience!
