The boys’ cross country team competed in the Chesterton regional on Saturday, October 19, 2019, ending their team run in the post season. The Kougars placed sixth, narrowly missing fifth place by two points. Five teams move on to semi-state competition.
Senior Ethan Tillema posted a 13 second PR placing 10th overall in 16:46.9. Justin Hoffman placed 17th overall in 17:02. Both advance as one of 10 individuals unattached to an advancing team. “”I’m excited for Ethan and Justin,” stated Coach Adams. “I knew they could be there at this point of the season. As a team, we are disappointed not to move on. This was going to be the year. Everyone ran the best he was capable of on the day, but we couldn’t put it together.”
Senior Trent Thomas posted a career best time, eclipsing his previous 18:02 with a 17:44. KV’s sixth runner Luke Bristol also established a new mark, cutting off 28 seconds for a 19:14. Adam Collard also ran for KV. Seniors Micah Adams and Zack Meadows end their seven-year career running cross country for KV.
