On Saturday at the Harrison Invite, versus semi-state level plus competition, the Lady Kougar Cross Country team performed brilliantly against many of the top teams and runners in the state. Sammy Martin ran one of the best races of her career, and her best one ever at Harrison, placing 47th in 20:28, a big season-best (SB) for Martin! Sophomore Em Wilson had her best race ever, with a gigantic personal record (PR) of 21:42, roughly 44 seconds faster than her previous PR! Wilson was 89th place. Halle Frieden hung tough in 22:06, good for 107th. In her first ever varsity 5K, freshman Keely Dekock ran a fine race, placing 133rd in 22:54, then left to play in her soccer game for our stellar varsity soccer squad. Sami Sullivan had a very fast SB time of 23:49, was our #5 runner and placed 152nd. Olivia Sheehy ran very well, placing 157th, a PR by around a minute in 24:00. Leader Abby Robinson also ran a SB time of 24:49. There were 188 runners in the varsity race! Another highlight run was freshman Joselyn Staples, who started strong in the JV race and never let up, finishing in 27:16, over TWO MINUTES faster than her previous PR!! These were tremendous performances and set us up well for the rest of the season and the post-season! Their coaches are extremely happy with these runs and how they competed against such good competition. GO KOUGS! They return to action Saturday at the Bob Thomas Invite in Lowell.
