Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Boys’ cross country places third in Stampede

The boys’ cross country team placed third in the nine team field at Lafayette McCutcheon’s Maverick Stampede on Saturday, August 31, 2019.  The Kougars tallied 57 points to Lafayette Harrison’s 23 and host McCutcheon’s 54.

For the second week in a row, KV placed three runners in the top ten, as well as five scorers in the top twenty.

Ethan Tillema (12) led KV with a sixth place finish in 17:56.  Sophomore Justin Hoffman and senior Micah Adams packed it up behind their team with seventh and eighth places respectively in 18:04 and 18:07.  Senior Trent Thomas placed 18th in 19:01, sophomore Adam Collard 20th in 19:03.

“In past years we’ve struggled at this meet,” stated Coach Adams.  “This year, the weather was good, and we showed some mental toughness.  Most of what we’ve done has been on aerobic work.  Our training will start adding elements this week to peak in time for the end of the season.”

KV races next Saturday in the Harrison Invitational, which draws more than two dozen teams.
