Boys Varsity Track · Boys’ track and field competes at Regionals

KV boys’ track and field competed at the Valparaiso Regional on Thursday, May 23, 2019, with entries in all three relays and six individual events.

“We performed on par with our season bests,” states Coach Adams, “and improved upon our sectional performances in all but two cases.  That’s significant to compete at this level and not lie down.  We came to compete confidently and assert ourselves.”

Scorers for the Kougars included Colton Wright, sixth place in the 300m hurdles (41.47) and Drew Kirincic, 7th in the pole vault (12’6″).

The 400m relay team (Jacob Stansberry, Brendon McKinstry, Cole Capps, and Markus Ritchie) made its first appearance since 2015 and posted KV’s fastest Regional in at least the last 10 years and fastest in post season since 2011.

The 1600m relay team (Ryder Smith, Adam Collard, Zach Taylor, and Eli Gott) made KV’s third Regional appearance in the last decade, first since 2013 and posted a season-best time of 3:42.15.

The 3200m relay team (Ty Niewoehner, Cameron Sheehy, Adam Collard, and Ethan Tillema) posted KV’s fastest time in Regional competition since 2014 with a season-best 8:48.38.

Garrett Brewster made the finals in discus, placing ninth overall with the furthest throw by a Kougar since 2014 (134’06”).

Micah Adams posted his second best time in the 3200m run (10:18.21) and the second best time of any KV runner in the last decade in Regional competition.
