The KV boys’ track and field team was runner-up to Boone Grove on Thursday, May 16, 2019 in sectional competition. The Kougar’s second place finish is KV’s highest since 2016 and highest point total (97 points) since 2014. KV last won the sectional in 2011.
“The was a good step back in the right direction,” commented Coach Adams. “We have established a history in sectionals in the last few years of not being afraid of the competition, performing solidly, and exceeding our seeds.”
Fourteen individuals advance to regional competition next week at Valparaiso High School, including sectional champions Drew Kirincic in pole vault and Colton Wright in the 300m hurdles.
Joining them are
Garrett Brewster (2nd place in discus with 145′ PR);
Ryder Smith (3rd in 300m hurdles);
Micah Adams (3rd in 3200m run);
Colton Wright (3rd in high jump).
In addition, all three relay teams advanced, placing third:
The 3200m relay team consisted of Ty Niewoehner, Cameron Sheehy, Adam Collard, and Ethan Tillema;
The 400m relay team consisted of Jacob Stansberry, Brendon McKinstry, Cole Capps, and Markus Ritchie;
The 1600m relay team consisted of Ryder Smith, Adam Collard, Zach Taylor, and Elijah Gott.
