Location: Portage HS, 6450 US-6, Portage, IN 46368
(This meet is one of several HSR “qualifiers” (Hoosier State Relays) held across the state. The top 24 state-wide can advance to a state indoor meet. Years ago the meet was knows as the “Bomber-Boiler Relays,” organized by Gene Edmonds, track coach at Rensselaer Central and later at Purdue University).
Bus departs @ 8:00am from behind KVHS.
Meet starts @ 9:30
- Lanes 1-2 will be available for warmup on backstretch (grey area) during relays.
- Hallways near freshman gym.
- Outside (rain is forecasted)
Report to the race clerk 10 min in advance near NE corner. Spike up at that time. NO SPIKES in the hallway or interior of track.
Relay races will use outer lanes 4-6.
Approximate schedule (events after the 60m dash/hurdles may run late; note the lack of time for afternoon events)
9:30 — Long jump (boys first)
10:00 — Shot put (boys first)
–Pole vault (girls first)
–High jump (5 alive, both genders)
10:45 — 3200 boys
11:15 — 4×800 relay (girls first) (boys maybe about 11:40)
12:00 — 60m dash (girls first)
— 60m hurdles (girls first)
1:00 — 60m dash finals (may or may not be held)
— 60m hurdle finals (may or may not be held)
— 4x200m relay (girls first; 3 teams per heat)
— DMR (girls first)
–4 x 400m relay (girls first; 3 teams per heat)
- Enter through entrance “D” on south side or “M” on the north side.
- Admission = $5.
- Seating is limited. A camp chair may be useful.
Bring food and water. Concessions will be available. Events will very likely run behind, so plan when/what you will eat.
Team camp will be in the freshman gym, down the hall.
