Kougars News · Miller Selected Academic All-State 1st Team For Cross Country

Senior cross country star Taylor Miller was recently selected to the Academic All-State First Team by the Indiana Coaches of Girls’ Sports Association (ICGSA). There were only 41 female runners selected state-wide and she is only one of five from Northwest Indiana. She also made the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (IATCCC) Academic All-State Honorable Mention (HM) team, another terrific honor. In her first ever season running cross country, she had a stellar year. Running as her team’s #1 runner most meets, she was All-Northwest Crossroads Conference (NCC) HM and placed 9th at sectional, leading her team to a 3rd place finish and another regional qualification. Congratulations, Taylor. Head Coach Lane Lewallen: ” What a great honor for Tay ! To even qualify for these academic all-state teams an athlete’s grades and test scores have to be very, very high, and to make ICGSA 1st Team is icing on the cake. She’s our first one to make this team in cross country since Kaila Moskalick in 2015. Besides her phenomenal grades and running ability, she is a terrific young lady with an exceptional attitude. The whole cross country program is very proud of Tay!”
