The athletes of the week for Oct. 2nd – 6th are:
Athlete of the week is freshman Lexi Culbreth from Girls’ Cross Country. Lexi has been a very important #2 runner for KVHS most of the season, and on Saturday she ran an outstanding sectional race, placing 12th in a time of 22:55.69 into the wind. She not only earned an individual ribbon with this performance, but helped her team to an outstanding 3rd place team finish, and advancing to another regional qualification. Congratulations Lexi!
This week’s male athlete of the week is Junior running back and linebacker Donald Nannenga. Donald led the offensive charge for the Kougars vs. Highland Friday night. He compiled 103 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. He also contributed 4 total tackles on defense. Donald has been a tireless worker and provides a great example of what it looks like to lead by example. Congratulations Donald!
Athletes of the week for Oct. 9-14th:
The Girls’ athlete of the week is Sophomore Sam Martin from cross country. Sam ran a terrific regional race Saturday at New Prairie, placing 27th out of 89 outstanding runners to qualify for her second straight semi-state! Her time of 20:45.8 was over a minute faster than she ran at sectional! She was 8th at sectional last week to lead her squad to a third place team finish! Congratulations, Sam!!
Senior Trevor Conley of the boys’ cross country team placed 14th overall in the IHSAA Regional race at New Prairie on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in 16:39. Conley’s time ties several other efforts as his third best time of his career. His place qualifies him to compete in his third straight Semi-state race, the first male runner to do so in the last 12 years. Congratulations Trevor!
