At the Bob Thomas Invite Saturday, hosted by Lowell High School, the Lady Kougar Cross Country team fielded five runners for the first time in a couple meets, placing 16th with 431 points. Sensational sophomore Sam Martin placed 43rd in an excellent time of 21:11, a whopping 45 seconds faster than at this meet in 2016. Freshmen Lexi Culbreth and Sami Sullivan hustled home in 90th and 101st , with solid times of 23:45 and 24:27, respectively. Junior Hazel Veldman returned to action with a 102nd place, her time WAY faster than in 2016, running also 24:27. Freshman Gracie Edwards, getting stronger each meet, placed 124th in the very tough field, and allowed her team to have a team score, with a time of 31:12. Both genders return to action this Saturday at the prestigious New Prairie Invitational.
