The Kankakee Valley (KV) Lady Kougar soccer team played their first conference game at home against the Lowell Red Devils. KV’s Karmen Nowak, assisted by Janelle Heerema, was able to strike first firing the ball into the goal in the 38th minute. Lowell’s Savannah Bevineau-Rock was able to equalize the game in the 5th minute of the second half. After close calls on both sides of the field regulation time concluded pushing the conference match into overtime. Only a few short minutes into overtime Lowell’s Kiana Chandler was able to find the back of the net making the score 2-1. The match concluded after the second overtime with the final score of KV 1, Lowell 2.
KV’s Goalie, Jenna James, had 15 saves for the night.
The Lady Kougars would like to send a special thanks especially to all of the guys who came out to support our program during our “Guy’s night.”
The Lady Kougar soccer team will take on Merrillville at home on Thursday. JV begins at 5 pm with the varsity squad playing after.
