Girls Middle School Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Sam Martin Places a Very Strong 17th at Dave Walker Cross Country Invite

This morning at Hebron High School, at the Dave Walker Invitational,  sophomore sensation Sam Martin ran nearly two minutes faster than at this same meet last year, placing 17th in a very strong field of runners.  Her time of 21:20.0 is an outstanding early season time, and earned her a prestigious ribbon.  The young Lady Kougars were seventh as a team in the eight team field with 182 points. Freshman Lexi Culbreth ran very tough in her varsity debut, placing 37th in a good time of 23:31.3, faster than she ran the Rotary Ramble last Saturday. Sophomore Abby Robinson, battling a balky knee, placed 46th in 24:33.0. Junior Hazel Veldman was 56th in 26:18.0. Freshman Sami Sullivan had a real good first varsity run, finishing just behind Veldman in 57th place, with a time of 26:51.0.  Senior Haley Hixson and freshman Gracie Edwards pushed each other home in 35:14.0 to round out their team’s seven varsity runners. They return to action next Saturday at the McCutcheon Maverick Stampede.
