Kankakee Valley High School
Lowell High School
It’s Sectional time! Kankakee Valley (KV) Ladies Kougars faced off with Lowell at host site Crown Point. With a great 13-3 season on the line the Lady Kougars live to play another day defeating Lowell 3-2! Setting the pace for KV tonight was Number 2 Singles Kat Miles with an outstanding performance defeating Tatiana Moreles 6-0, 6-1. Next to finish was Number 3 Singles Aubrey Toppen who dominated Lowell’s Emily Henke 6-1, 6-1. To get the win for KV, Number 2 Doubles Abby Sayers and Christina Birky played great doubles tennis to defeat Gena Gich and Madison Berbij 6-2, 6-3. Number 1 Singles Britney Hoffman was defeated by Haley Fulk 2-6, 3-6. Even though it was straight sets this match was much closer than the score with almost every game going to deuce. Finally, Number 1 Doubles Kyla Dykstra and Madi Rowen play one of the best doubles teams in Northwest Indiana, Lowell’s Jojo Bobos and Madison Jusevitch and after dropping the first set they gathered themselves and almost pulled the victory out. Losing 2-6, 6-4, 4-6 KV’s Number 1 Doubles played a very good night of tennis.
With Crown Point defeating Hanover Central tonight, tomorrows match ups are Crown Point versus Lake Central and KV versus Rensselaer Central at 4:15. The winners of both those matches will have a 30 minute rest and face off against each other for the Sectional Championship. Lets hope for a long night of tennis tomorrow!! KV improves to 14-3 this year.
If you haven’t seen these ladies play, tomorrow night is the night to check them out! If they can get past Rensselaer Central. They may very well have the chance to try and knock off the 22 time defending Sectional Champs Crown Point who will definitely have the home crowd advantage. Come support the Lady Kougars!!
