Multiple Teams · Cross country summer running checkup

Calling all CC runners to report in!

If you haven’t reported your mileage to your coaches recently, click here and report in.

If you have logged decent miles in the first 2/3 of summer, keep it up!  Top veteran boys’ varsity runners should be working up to 10+ miles for a long run.  Ideal pace for most of your other runs for the week should be at 7:20 or faster, depending on heat and fatigue.

Other varsity contenders and this year’s top girls should be working up to 7-8 mile long runs; ideal pace for this group (boys) is 7:20 to 7:40, 8:10 to 8:40 for top girls.

However, if you haven’t been running consistently, now is a great time to start.  Please do not expect to race your way into shape in September and exceed your previous bests.  You are better off to start logging consistent miles.

IF you are one of those who needs to get going, veteran varsity HS runners, aim for 20 miles, 24 miles, and 27 miles in the next 3 weeks.

Veterans of MS cross country/track and/or 1-2 seasons and/or veteran HS reserve runners should aim for 16 miles, 19 miles, and 22 miles in the next 3 weeks.

All others should aim for 12 miles, 14 miles, and 16 miles in the next 3 weeks.

Practices start on Monday, August 1st at 7:30 at Field of Dreams.  The practice schedule is posted here.
