KV’s boys’ track and field team competed in Rensselaer Central’s Gene Edmonds Relays on Friday, April 29, 2016, falling to Twin Lakes (102) and runner up RCHS (91) to KV’s 90 points. Eight teams competed. Last year KV finished in 5th place with 75 points.
KV opened the night opened solidly with nothing worse than a 2nd place finish in the first 6 relays and ahead of RCHS in each.
KV’s throwing duo of Darin Kapella and Lucas Bohannon placed 2nd in shot put for their combined distances and 3rd in discus. With a dominate win in pole vault by Nick Schoonveld and Logan Nowak, KV scored one more point than RCHS, 14 more than TL.
The margin did not hold, however, as KV got blanked in high jump and scored only 2 points in long jump, where RCHS and TL both competed strongly.
KV never recovered, mustering a 3rd and two 5th place finishes in the last three relays.
