Game Recap

KV dropped two games today in a tournament held at home. There were many ups and downs throughout the day. The Kougars opened the day facing off against the Whitko Wildcats in the morning session. KV played very well on the offensive end of the floor putting up 61 points but falling by seven to Whitko’s 68. The Kougars were led in scoring by Evan Ellinghausen with 24 points. Logan Abbring scored 11 in his first game back this season returning from a summer ACL tear. Cam Hemphill played a great game off the bench scoring 8. Tyler Hein (6), Danny Rockley (5), Trenton Walstra (4), and Chad Hill (3) also contributed in scoring. Whitko was led by Junior guard Nate Walpole, who scored 25 points on the day.

In the consolation game, KV played against rival Rensselaer Central. The Kougars came out firing and led 15-6 at the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately, the Kougar offense cooled off after that quarter only scoring 9, 4, and 7 in the final three quarters. The final score was 50-35 in favor of Rensselaer. Evan Ellinghausen led KV with 15 points and Trenton Walstra chipped in 7. Logan Abbring (5), Tyler Hein (4), Ray Smith (2), and Mac Shane Howard (2) rounded out the scoring for KV. Rensselaer was led by Ben Hillan with 16 points and Jaylen Gilbert scored 13.
