Kougars News · Varsity Football-KV 16 Griffith 8

Our game today, Saturday, 9/19, (which was regularly scheduled for Friday, 9/18 and postponed due to inclement weather) saw our varsity Kougars improve to 3-2 on the season with a 16-8 victory at Griffith.

Our special teams covered and returned kicks nicely with great hustle and effort from all members of the teams. We were able to limit Griffith’s special team yardage and maximize our own.

Defensively, we had many players swarming to the football. Our defensive line was lead by Aron Ceglarek, Darin Kapella, Chad Witt, and Jake Williams. The linebackers were attacking and playing downhill. We were lead by Logan Nowak, Randy Sneed, Donald Nannenga, Jake Shevock, and Nick Schoonveld. Our secondary had two interceptions (Jimmy Elliott and Tyler Kinney) on the day and was lead by Jimmy Elliott, Darrick Webster, Tyler Kinney, and Cody Gronkiewicz.

Offensively, we were lead by the ENTIRE offensive line (Tyler Hein, Joe Steinke, Jake Shevock, Declan Isaily, and Gavinn Bakker). Gaining the yardage behind our line was Quarterback Darrick Webster with 12 rushes for 112 yards and 1 TD, Riley Fisher with 5 rushes for 17 yards, Jimmy Elliott with 16 rushes for 27 yards, Randy Sneed with 2 rushes for 9 yards, and Chad Witt with 21 rushes for 68 yards and 1 TD. On both touchdowns, the offense stayed on the field for the 2 point conversations. On both conversations, Webster found WR Tyler Kinney alone in the end zone. Tyler Kinney finished the game with 2 catches for 19 yards and 2 catches for 6 yards (both 2 point conversions).

Come on out to “The Farm”, Friday, 9/25 as we welcome South Newton for Kankakee Valley’s 2015 Homecoming Game.
Fun and busy week guys. Stay focused, be safe, and have fun!

Great TEAM effort today fellas. Keep working. We are onto week 6.
