On a nasty weather day, not fit for man nor beast, sophomore Brittany Kent ran an outstanding, courageous race at the NCC championship meet. Showing she is among the area’s best, Kent was sitting in 11th, heading into the final stretch through the woods. She blasted by two runners before the finish, grabbing 9th place and earning All-NCC 1st Team honors, as she continues to lead her young squad. Her time was a very good 21:07. Allison Schultheis, battling very sore knees, was 35th in 23:42. KV, who finished 7th as a team, also had a stellar run by soph. Ally Schumacher. Schumacher ran a personal record by roughly 1 minute and a half, to take 40th place in 24:12. Kailee VanNieulande was 46th in 27:33 and Gabby Dumont was 47th in 31:54. The Kougars, defending sectional champions, head to Rensselaer Saturday morning for the 2014 sectional meet.
